What Is the First Step in Helping a Student with Same-Sex Attraction?

If you’re anything like me, when students come and talk about their struggles, you want to do something about it quickly. And our desire to help is certainly good! Unfortunately, this fix-it-quick attitude tends to ignore students as complex people with unique stories.

I just want to offer one, beginning place in loving this student well, or any student well who confides in you a struggle with same-sex attraction. – Cooper Pinson

Cooper served as Junior High Director at Briarwood Presbyterian Church (AL) before studying at Westminster Theological Seminary, Glenside, PA. Having volunteered, interned, and been on staff, he has served in various capacities in youth ministry and has a passion to help students live with sexual integrity and to walk with them as they follow Jesus. Cooper, a Georgia native, graduated from Samford University (AL) with a degree in History and a minor in Religion. He and his wife, Katie have a two children. Cooper served on the Student Outreach staff of Harvest USA, prior to leaving to pursue a doctoral degree overseas.
